The Divine Comedy – “A Secret History… The Best of the Divine Comedy”

“National Express”, “Something For The Weekend”, “Becomimg More Like Alfie”, “The Summerhouse”, “Your Daddy’s Car”, la increíble “Tonight We Fly”….

Tonight we fly

Over the houses

The streets and the trees

Over the dogs down below

They’ll bark at our shadows

As we float by on the breeze

Tonight we fly

Over the chimney tops

Skylights and slates

Looking into all your lives

And wondering why

Happiness is so hard to find

(We’ll fly)

Over the doctor, over the soldier

Over the farmer, over the poacher

Over the preacher, over the gambler

Over the teacher, over the writer

Over the lawyer, over the dancer

Over the voyeur

Over the builder and the destroyer

Over the hills and far away

Tonight we fly

Over the mountains

The beach and the sea

Over the friends that we’ve known

And those that we now know

And those whom we’ve yet to meet

And when we die

Oh, will we be that

Disappointed or sad

If heaven doesn’t exist

What will we have missed

This life is the best we’ve ever had

T. Rex – “The Slider”

T. Rex – “The Slider”

You gonna look fine
Be primed for dancing
You’re gonna trip and glide all on the trembling plane
Your diamond hands
Will be stacked with roses
And wind and cars and people of the past

I’ll call you “thing”
Just when the moon sings
And place your face in stone upon the hill of stars
And gripped in the arms
Of the changeless madman
We’ll dance our lives away in the ballrooms of Mars
You talk about day
I’m talking ’bout night time
When the monsters call out the names of men
Bob Dylan knows
And I bet Alan Freed did
There are things in night that are better not to behold
You dance
With your lizard leather boots on
And pull the strings that change the faces of men
You diamond-browed hag
You’re a gutter-gaunt gangster
John Lennon knows your name and I’ve seen his

You talk about day
I’m talking ’bout night time
When the monsters call out the names of men
Bob Dylan knows
And I bet Alan Freed did
There are things in night that are better not to behold
You dance
With your lizard leather boots on
And pull the strings that change the faces of men

“Absolute Beginners – Soundtrack”

The Style Council  le cambiaron la letra a “With Everything To Lose” de su “Our Favourite Shop” y la convirtieron en “Have You Ever Had It Blue?”, enorme igualmente.

I’ve nothing much to offer

There’s nothing much to take

I’m an absolute beginner

And I’m absolutely sane

As long as we’re together

The rest can go to hell

I absolutely love you

But we’re absolute beginners

With eyes completely open

But nervous all the same

If our love song

Could fly over mountains

Could laugh at the ocean

Just like the films

There’s no reason

To feel all the hard times

To lay down the hard lines

It’s absolutely true

Nothing much could happen

Nothing we can’t shake

Oh we’re absolute beginners

With nothing much at stake

As long as you’re still smiling

There’s nothing more I need

I absolutely love you

But we’re absolute beginners

But if my love is your love

We’re certain to succeed

If our love song

Could fly over mountains

Sail over heartaches

Just like the films

If there’s reason

To feel all the hard times

To lay down the hard lines

It’s absolutely true

David Bowie – “The Singles Collection”

I still don’t know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I’d got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I’ve never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
I’m much too fast to take that test

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strain
Ch-ch-changes
Don’t want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strain
Ch-ch-Changes
Just gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can’t trace time
