Vashti Bunyan – “Heartleap”
Tres discos en cuarenta y cuatro años esa es su carta de presentación. Vashti Bunyan publicó su primer disco “Just Another Diamond Day” en 1970 después de haberse pasado dos años recorriendo Inglaterra en un carromato tirado por un caballo acompañada por su novio. Antes de iniciar ese viaje había publicado alguno singles con casi nula repercusión, pero en mitad de aquel camino se cruzó con Joe Boyd uno de los grandes productores musicales del Reino Unido y a la sazón productor de Nick Drake, Joe Boyd le invitó a grabar un disco usando algunos de los músicos que habían colaborado con Drake. El resultado fue “Just Another Diamond Day” un disco precioso que de nuevo tuvo escasa repercusión, tuvieron que pasar treinta años para que los nuevos impulsores del folk, entre los que estaba Devendra Banhart, llamaran la atención sobre Vashti, eso le animó a regresar y grabar su segundo disco en el año 2005, “Lookaftering”, al menos esta vez los medios le prestaron atención y a mí me permitió conocerla, pero tuvieron que pasar otros nueve años para que yo le hiciera realmente caso , fue en 2014 cuando publicó este “Hearleap” con la promesa de ser su último disco. No grabaría más. Esto es todo lo que quería contar, dijo. “Heartleap” es una delicia de principio a fin, la delicada voz de Vashti, sutiles arreglos de cuerda, coros de Devendra Banhart en alguna canción. Bonito, bonito de verdad. Otro disco de tarde de verano o de noche de invierno.
Complicado quedarse con una sola canción, pero escucho “Mother” y las imágenes me traen recuerdos de la mía y eso es mucho. Uff!!
