Woods – “Sun And Shade”
Muchas veces el conocer nuevas músicas y/o nuevos artistas no es tarea fácil, más aún en los tiempos que corren, puede parecer anacrónico pero creo que en la música se cumple, como en casi todo, la paradoja del exceso de información que vivimos actualmente. Es tal el volumen de fuentes de información disponible, y no sólo hablando de música, que tienes que elegir bien quién te informa, más aún quién te hace recomendaciones o prescribe nuevas músicas. Al final cuando alguien nunca te ha fallado no tienes mucho más que pensar, esto me pasó con los neoyorquinos Woods, de los que no había escuchado nada, pero que alguien del que me fío completamente no paraba de hablar maravillas de ellos, así conocí a Woods, Rafael Berrio, Doble Pletina o Devon Williams. Gracias Ignacio. En cuanto a este disco de Woods, “Sun And Shade” (2011), no sé si será su mejor disco, puede que no, pero es el primero que yo escuché y simplemente me pareció brutal.
Folk, pop, música experimental todo cabe en los cuarenta y cuatro minutos que dura “Sun And Shade”, yo me quedo con “Pushing Onlys” y mi favorita “Who Do I Think I Am?”, las más accesibles, pero el disco hay que escucharlo con calma, lo merece.

- Snowed In At Wheeler Street – Kate Bush. Una historia de amor atemporal del incendio de Roma a la caída de las Torres de New York. Impresionantes Kate Bush y Elton John. He leido hoy en RockdeLux que esta era la canción más floja del último disco de Kate Bush y para mi es la canción del año, está claro que para gustos hay colores.
- Your Young voice – King Creosote & Jon Hopkins. La típica canción que aparece un día en tu vida y que sabes que no saldrá nunca. Una auténtica preciosidad.
- Calgary – Bon Iver. Curioso, que dos de las canciones más bonitas de este año, esta y Calgary ’88, tengan a la ciudad canadiense en su título. Una de esas casualidades que las hacen aún más magnéticas.
