The War On Drugs – “Lost In The Dream”

El tercer disco de The War On Drugs, “Lost In The Dream” (2014), suena a eso, algunas de las canciones podrían encajar en “Born In The USA”, escucha “Dancing In The Dark” y luego “Red Eyes”, o en el “Oh Mercy” de Dylan, escucha “Everything is Broken” y luego “Eyes To The Wind”.

Come and see
Where I witness everything
On my knees
Beat it down to get to my soul
Against my will
Anyone could tell us you’re coming
Baby don’t mind
Leave it on the line, leave it hanging on a rail

Come and ride away
It’s easier to stick to the old
Surrounded by the night
Surrounded by the night, and you don’t give in
But you abuse my faith
Losing every time but I don’t know where
You’re on my side again
So ride the heat wherever it goes
I’ll be the one, I can’t
You’re all I got, wait
Don’t wanna let the dark night cover my soul
Well you can see it through the darkness coming my way
Well we won’t get lost inside it all again

Oh, my mind
No one sees me right here waiting
They don’t mind that I’m here, I hear
For the best way-oh, you’re mine, against it
I would keep you here, but I can’t

Oh, I am trying to see the right, the right way
And I don’t see it there where I come from

Lost on my sea again
The easy way to cover my sin
Don’t want another dark time think to myself
I won’t get lost inside it all, I’m on my way
Well I can see it the darkness covering my mind
Well we can hear the voices war inside, yeah
They won’t get lost inside it all get lost inside at all
You’re on my way

Roy Orbison – “In Dreams – The Greatest Hits”

Allí estaban “Only The Lonely” , “Running Scared”, “Crying” , “It’s Over”….

A candy-colored clown they call the sandman
Tiptoes to my room every night
Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper
“Go to sleep. Everything is all right.”

I close my eyes, then I drift away
Into the magic night. I softly say
A silent prayer like dreamers do
Then I fall asleep to dream, my dreams of you

In dreams I walk with you, in dreams I talk to you
In dreams you’re mine, all of the time
We’re together in dreams, in dreams

But just before the dawn, I awake and find you gone
I can’t help it, I can’t help it, if I cry
I remember that you said goodbye

It’s too bad that all these things
Can only happen in my dreams
Only in dreams, in beautiful dreams

Al Stewart -“Year Of The Cat”

The Year Of The Cat”.

On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turn back time
You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre
Contemplating a crime
She comes out of the sun in a silk dress
Running like a watercolor in the rain
Don’t bother asking for explanations
She’ll just tell you that she came
In the year of the cat

She doesn’t give you time for questions
As she locks up your arm in hers
And you follow till your sense of which direction
Completely disappears
By the blue-tiled walls near the market stalls
There’s a hidden door she leads you to
These days, she says, I feel my life
Just like a river running through
The year of the cat

Well, she looks at you so cooly
And her eyes shine like the moon in the sea
She comes in incense and patchouli
So you take her, to find what’s waiting inside
The year of the cat

Well, morning comes and you’re still with her
And the bus and the tourists are gone
And you’ve thrown away your choice and lost your ticket
So you have to stay on
But the drumbeat strains of the night remain
In the rhythm of the newborn day
You know sometime you’re bound to leave her
But for now you’re gonna stay
In the year of the cat

Bob Dylan – “Oh Mercy”

Crickets are chirpin’, the water is high,
There’s a soft cotton dress on the line hangin’ dry,
Window wide open, African trees
Bent over backwards from a hurricane breeze.
Not a word of goodbye, note even a note,
She gone with the man
In the long black coat.

Somebody seen him hanging around
At the old dance hall on the outskirts of town,
He looked into her eyes when she stopped to ask
If he wanted to dance, he had a face like a mask.
Somebody said from the Bible he’d quote
There was dust on the man
In the long black coat.

Preacher was a talkin’ there’s a sermon he gave,
He said every man’s conscience is vile and depraved,
You cannot depend on it to be your guide
When it’s you who must keep it satisfied.
It ain’t easy to swallow, it sticks in the throat,
She gave her heart to the man
In the long black coat.

Bonus.

sigamos esos meteoritos”

Así que subimos

hasta lo alto de la colina

él tocaba con su acústica

“Song to Woody”, “Chimes of freedom”

Entonces, un hilo finísimo

le atravesó, encendido

la noche de San Lorenzo

marcó a Bobby su camino

“Judas”, le llamaron “Judas”

Pero solo yo sabía

que todo fue un aerolito

el aerolito Dylan

Al cabo de un rato

recuperó la consciencia

la guitarra estaba rota

me miró con suficiencia

“No la necesito –me dijo-

he tenido una idea

el mercurio ardiente

ya se como suena

mañana tocaré

con la guitarra eléctrica”

Y sólo yo sabía

que fue el aerolito Dylan…
