Yo creo que en el fondo a Nick Cave le tiene que joder un poco que la canción que le puso en boca de todos fuera un duo con la mega estrella pop Kyley Minogue,  por mucho que “Where The Wid Roses Grow” sea un pedazo de canción, eso sí. De hecho, yo mismo, que ya había escuchado antes a Cave, empecé a hacerlo con “You Funeral… My Trial” su cuarto disco, le tenía colocado en mi cajón de “escuchar más tarde” desde 1987, y lo saqué en 1996 con este disco, “Murder Ballads”, gracias sobre todo a “Where The Wild Roses Grow”. Me pasó con el algo muy parecido que con Tom Waits, no le presté atención hasta que tuvo un disco, dígamos, “más accesible” para gente inculta como yo. “Murder Ballads”, el noveno disco de Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, supuso un punto de inflexión en su carrera, un disco que como su propio nombre indica gira en torno a un género tradicional que son las baladas de asesinatos, así, sin más, historias de asesinos y sus víctimas, a ser posible con todo lujo de detalles. Ahí están “Stager Lee” (“Mr Stagger Lee, Well those were the last words that the barkeep said, Cause Stag put four holes in his motherfucking head”) así sin adornos, la historia del pobre “Henry Lee” asesinado por su resentida ex-amante  en el que el papel de ella es para la novia de entonces de Nick , la gran PJ Harvey, “The Curse Of Millhaven”,  la ya mencionada “Where The Wild Roses Grow” y para rematar una versión de Bob Dylan “Death Is Not The End” para contrarrestar tanta sangre.

Después de este disco ya no dejé de seguir la carrera de Cave, otro de los imprescindibles.
