So ToughSaint Etienne es un trío británico compuesto por Bob Stanley, Pete Wiggs y la cantante Sarah Cracknell. Los dos primeros fueron periodistas musicales antes que músicos y eso se nota, especialmente en el caso de Bob Stanley, que no solo fue periodista si no que además es todo un erudito de la música; presume de una inmensa colección de discos y es el autor de una enciclopedia de la música pop («Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!: The Story of Pop Music from Bill Haley to Beyonce”) que todo el mundo dice que es espectacular y que yo tengo pendiente de leer. El caso es que, como decía, esta erudición se nota en sus discos y se deja ver claramente en este su segundo disco, un disco de indie-pop-bailable delicioso, lleno de temamos que usa “simples” de películas antiguas como hilo conductor entre canciones y con la dulce voz de Sarah Cracknell siempre presente. Desde el arranque con “Mario’s Café” hasta el cierre con el single previo “Join Our Club” (solo presente en la edición americana), pasando por “Calico” o el tremendo “You’re In A Bad Way” este disco es una auténtica delicia.
