Ruido, mucho ruido. Me lo habían avisado Eh! Pero no me hacía a la idea de que fuera así, pero las críticas eran tan buenas que me compré el disco sin haber escuchado nada de ellos. No fue nada fácil, mi copia del “Psychocandy” de The Jesus and Mary Chain dice que lo compré en Abril de 1986, y prometo que lo intenté, pero no, no era fácil. En aquella época yo estaba en otra cosa y aquel disco tenía kilos y kilos de distorsión y ruido. Pero no me rendí, claro, y en una de esas escuchas aquello empezó a tener sentido, debajo de aquella capa de ruido había preciosas melodías y todas aquellas distorsiones lo que hacían era “adornar” aquellas canciones, en serio. El disco suponía un cambio radical en el tipo de música que había escuchado hasta entonces y no solo eso ya conté aquí y aquí que me empujó a The Beach Boys y a The Velvet Underground, en cierta medida lo considero uno de mis discos “iniciáticos”, un disco que expandió mi universo musical. Para cuando llegó el mes de Julio de aquel año y me fui a Inglaterra ya estaba enganchado al disco, aquel mes The Jesus and Mary Chain editaron un doble EP con una nueva canción, “Some Candy Talking”, y versiones acústicas de algunas canciones de “Psychocandy”, más magia y esta vez casi sin ruido. “Some Candy Talking” se convirtió en una de mis canciones favoritas y el grupo la incluyó en las ediciones posteriores de “Psychocandy”. Le tengo mucho cariño, hoy al volver a escucharlo por enésima vez ha vuelto a sorprenderme como cada vez que lo he escuchado en estos treinta años. “Just Like Honey”, “Never Understand”, “You Trip Me Up”… o “Some Candy Talking”. Me vale cualquiera.
