El primer disco de los Violent Femmes , del mismo título, es uno de esos discos que yo llamo de calado lento, de los que cuesta asimilar su importancia. Aunque no será porque no tenga canciones para engancharte a la primera, “Blister In The Sun”, su canción más conocida es de esas que se te meten en la cabeza y ya no hay manera de sacártela de allí, probad hacerlo, escucharla y pasarte los dos días siguientes canturreando aquello de “let me go on, like a blister in the sun….” es todo uno. Esto exactamente fue lo que me pasó la primera vez que la escuché en algún bar a mediados/finales de los 80, el disco es de 1983, y que me llevó a comprar el disco. No sé si existe el término punk acústico, pero le va al pelo al disco, el uso de guitarras acústicas aceleradas creo escuela, como ya conté cuando hablaba de The Woodentops, y a mi me suena a eso , a punk acústico. Canciones como “Blister In The Sun”, “Add It Up” o “Kiss Off” pusieron el listón muy alto para el resto de la carrera de Violent Femmes y marcaron el camino para otros grupos, un disco ajeno a las modas, tan actual como hace treinta años.
