Este “Zazu” (1986), el primer y único disco publicado por Rosie Vela, es otro de esos discos que tenía todo para haber triunfado en todas partes. Una curiosa colección de canciones, un artista con una voz bonita, sin llegar a ser espectacular, y una imagen impecable, y por si fuera poco el apoyo incondicional de los dos miembros de Steely Dan, Walter Becker y Donald Fagen, que tocaban en todas las canciones del disco y que era la primera que se reuniían después de cinco años desde su primera separación, de hecho se cuenta que este disco les sirvió para recuperar su amistad. Quizás fuera esa imagen impecable de Rosie Vela, no en vano era una Top Model, lo que hizo que mucha gente no se la tomara en serio, una pena… Yo la conocí por el su primer single, “Magic Smile”, una canción que podría caber en cualquier disco de Steely Dan y que realmente tenía algo de mágico, el vídeo, que por cierto no he podido localizar en ninguna parte, también era de los que enganchaba. El caso es que compré el disco al reclamo de la canción y de los Steely Dan, no me defraudó. Sin ser una maravilla absoluta sigue teniendo algo que me atrae casi treinta años después.
