Belle And Sebastian – “If You’re Feeling Sinister”

Y vuelta a una obra mayor, pero mayor de verdad. Cuando pienso en mis grupos favoritos de la segunda mitad de los años 90, el tramo final del siglo XX, inmediatamente me vienen dos nombres a la cabeza, uno es The Divine Comedy, también en mi lista, y el otro es Belle And Sebastian, los protagonistas de la entrada de hoy. He elegido su segundo disco, “If You’re Feeling Sinister” porque fue con el que los conocí, un disco precioso, 41 minutos de pura delicia pop. Con  influencias que van desde los Beatles del “Sgt. Pepper’s” hasta el Nick Drake más íntimo, justo el tipo de pop que más me gusta. Stuart Murdoch, el líder de Belle And Sebastian, es un tipo con un gusto musical exquisito y eso se hace notar en sus composiciones, suyas son todas las canciones de este disco. Este es de esos discos que puedes escuchar de principio a fin sin ningún altibajo, completamente atemporal, como todas las obras maestras. Me cuesta mucho elegir algunas de las canciones , pero “Fox In The Snow” (totalmente “nickdrakiana”) , “Judy And The Dream of Horses”, “Like Dylan In The Movies” y  “Get Me Away From Here I’m Dying” son mis favoritas, la mitad del disco, vaya, pero es que la otra mitad es también una pasada.

Una obra imprescindible, si no la habéis escuchado estáis tardando y ya sabéis ” if you are feeling sinister Go off and see a minister”.
