The Blue Nile – “Hats”

Un disco de los básicos de mi discoteca, lo tengo en todas las ediciones posibles. Escribo esta entrada en un AVE camino de Gerona, son las 7 am de la mañana de un jueves cualquiera, le doy al play y se hace la magia de nuevo, cuando arranca “Over The Hillside” ya se que “Hats” es el disco que cura todo, lo sé desde la primera vez que lo escuché hace de eso 26 años, 1989 uff!!. Ya sé que The Blue Nile son uno de mis grupos de siempre, sé que si llego a viejo (más de lo que ya soy) lo seguiré escuchando. Arranca “The Downtown Lights”, “Let’s go walking down these empty streets…” canta Paul Buchanan, no voy a cansarme nunca de escuchar esta canción “It’s allright, the downtown lights…..” . The Blue Nile  tienen (¿tenían?) fama de trabajar despacio el grupo aparecía y desaparecía cada 6-7 años más o menos , desde 2004 no ha vuelto a grabar nada, sólo cuatro discos largos en toda su carrera aunque su alma matter Paul Buchanan editó otro brillante disco en 2012  que por supuesto estuvo en mi lista. He llegado a “From A Late Night Train” solo unos ligeros apuntes de piano, algunos, mínimos, detalles electrónicos y la voz de Buchanan,¿ qué más puedo pedir?. Ahora suena “Seven A.M”, cuando llego hasta aquí, se que solo queda por sonar “Saturday Night” y que no me va a quedar mas remedio que volver a darle al play, así es “Hats”.
