Tahiti 80 – “Wallpaper For The Soul”
Tahiti 80 es un grupo francés que conocí hace un par de años, una entrada en Música en la Mochila hablaba de ellos, (alguna día comentaré la importancia que le doy a determinados comentarios, como por ejemplo los de David S. Mordoh) y de este disco “Wallpaper For The Soul” (2002) como disco de “verano”. Eso me hizo escuchar el album con especial interés , tenía algo de musica de los 80 y bastante de ese “pop elegante” que tanto me gusta, canciones que me sonaban a The Style Council, los de la primera época, a Working Week o incluso a Everything But The Girl (venga esscuchad “Open Book” y me lo contáis). Lo más sorprendente, bueno yo no me debería sorprenderme de nada, de todo el asunto es comprobar que injusto es el mundo de la música a veces, “Wallpaper For The Soul” es un pedazo de disco y si no llega a ser por la famosa entrada, bendito mundo digital, yo no hubiera conocido este grupo ni este album. Ayer mientras volaba camino de Londres, escuchaba este disco por enésima vez y comprobaba una vez más la atemporalidad de los buenos discos, catorce años han pasado desde sus edición, tres desde que yo lo descubrí y suena igual de fresco que la primera vez. Por supuesto está en mi lista de discos de verano entre el “Cardiffians” de Devine & Statton y el “Introducing” de The Style Council, y allí se va a quedar, este verano volverá a sonar cuando el sol se ponga y el sol abrasador de paso a una noche estrellada preferiblemente cerca del mar. Así es “Wallpaper For The Soul”.
