Graham Parker – “The Mona Lisa’s Sister”

I’m not a page in history, not something that bold
I’m not the greatest mystery that was ever told
I may not be who you wanna spend a whole life with alone
I’m not that fascinating with features carved like stone

But I’ll tell you everything before you run away, hey
I’ll tell you what I am, I’m just your man

I’m not a hero or even someone who does good
I’m not made of iron or steel or stone or gold or bronze or wood
I may not notice the little things, sometimes I can’t see
But I’m not the kind of fool I’m made out to be

But I love you, yes I love you, you can understand, hey

Then you’ll know what I am, I’m just your man

I’m just your man, just your man, that’s all
And if I can’t be that I’m no man at all

I’m not a burning comet that fell out of the sky
I know I’m just like the next clown when I get too high

But I love you, yes I love you, and if you understand
Then you’ll know what I am, I’m just your man

Joe Jackson – “Big World”

Hay auténticos temazos, “Right And Wrong”, “Tonight And Forever”… y las que son sin duda mis favoritas “Hometown” y “We Can’t Live Together”. Un clásico instántaneo.

Of all the stupid things
I could have thought
This was the worst
I started to believe
That I was born at seventeen
And all the stupid things
The letters and the broken verse
Stayed hidden at the bottom of the drawer
They’d always been
And now, I plough through piles
Of bills, receipts, and credit cards
And tickets, and the daily news
And sometimes I just
Wanna go back to my hometown
Though I know it’ll never be the same
Back to my hometown
Cause it’s been so long
And I’m wondering if it’s still there
We think we’re pretty smart
Us city slickers get around
And when the going’s rough
We kill the pain and relocate
We’re never married
Never faithful not to any town
But we never leave the past behind
We just accumulate
So, sometimes when the music stops
I seem to hear a distant sound
Of waves and seagulls
Football crowds, and church bells
And I
Wanna go back to my hometown
Though I know it’ll never be the same
Back to my hometown
Cause it’s been so long
And I’m wondering if it’s still there
Back to my hometown
Though I know it’ll never be the same
Back to my hometown
Cause it’s been so long
And I’m wondering if it’s still there

Bonus. “Is She Really Going Out Of Him” de su primer disco “Look Sharp!”

Bonus 2.
