El primer disco de Iron & Wine, el alter ego de Sam Beam, que escuché y por el que le conocí fue “The Shepherd’s Dog”(2007), siguiendo una recomendación de Rockdelux. Aquel disco me gustó, folk del siglo XXI, ya sabéis el nuevo Dylan, el nuevo Nick Drake…. interesante. Averigüé también por aquella época que en 2002 había hecho una preciosa versión de una de mis canciones favoritas de aquel año “Such Great Heights” de The Postal Service (mañana estarán por aquí, viva mi aleatorio!!!), que aparecía en la cara B del single original y también en un recopilatorio de rarezas y caras B, “Around The Well”, que también se coló en mi discoteca. No dejé de seguir la pista a Iron & Wine, su siguiente disco (“Kiss Each Other Clean”) me gustó también, pero fue con este “Ghost On Ghost” (2013), su quinto disco, con el que caí rendido a sus pies, quizás su disco más accesible, “el más pop” también, pero ¿quién puede resistirse a maravillas como “The Desert Babbler”, “Joy” (¿Eres tú Brian Wilson?) o “New Mexico’s No Breeze” ? Yo no, desde luego. “Ghost On Ghost” es uno de lo básicos de mi colección desde hace tres años, de esos discos a los que vuelves porque sabes que no va a fallar.
